Karemera, Edouard

Edouard KaremeraÉdouard Karemera, alias Rukusanya, was Minister of the Interior in the Interim Government of 8 April 1994, in Rwanda. He held this position until the Interim Government fled from the country in July 1994. Edouard Karemera was also the First Vice-President of the Mouvement républicain national pour la démocratie et le développement (MRND).

Édouard Karemera is accused of genocide, complicity in genocide, conspiracy to commit genocide, direct and public incitement to genocide, rape and exterminations (crimes against humanity), murder and causing violence to health (serious violations of Common Article 3).

Édouard Karemera was arrested in Togo, in 1998. His trial started on 19 September 2005. Édouard Karemera is indicted together with Mathieu Ngirumpatse and Joseph Nzirorera.
