Jović, Josip (contempt)

On 30 August 2006, Josip Jović was convicted of contempt of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and ordered to pay a fine of 20,000 euros.

The Trial Chamber III found that as editor-in-chief of Slobodna Dalmacija, Jović disclosed the identity and testimony of a protected witness who testified in the Tihomir Blaškić case. Additionally, Jović continued to publish extracts from the transcript of the testimony given by the witness in closed session after he was ordered by the Tribunal to stop.

On 15 March 2007, the Appeals Chamber upheld the Trial Chamber’s decision.
