Delić, Hazim

Hazim DelicIn 1992, Hazim Delić served as Deputy Commander and Commander of Čelebići prison camp (south-east Bosnia and Herzegovina). Delić was indicted with Zdravko Mucić, Esad Landžo and Zejnil Delalić (Case IT-96-21 "Čelebići"). On 16 November 1998, Delić was convicted of grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions (wilful killings, torture, wilfully causing great suffering or serious injury, inhuman treatment, unlawful confinement of civilians), and violations of the laws or customs of war (murders, torture, cruel treatment, plunder). Delić was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment by the Trial Chamber II; a sentence that was reduced to 18 years following the second sentencing judgement of 9 October 2001. On 9 July 2003, Delić was transferred to Finland to serve his sentence.

On 24 June 2008 Hazim Delic was granted early release, based on credit given for time served in detention since 2 May 1996.
